People with kidney problems that are going through dialysis are told by their doctors to drink distilled water for three months.

Drinking water and Water Heater tank and it's correlation. Tap water is poison, water heaters bring the poison out, it precipitates out into the water. That's why it's recommend for a licensed plumber to drain and flush out the water heater tank at least once a year. Also there is a aluminum or magnesium anode rod in water heater that is put there for one purpose and that purpose is a sacrifice metal. The sacrifice metal will dissolve first before the water heater tank does. Depending on the mineral content of your water, the anode rod would have to be replaced maybe every 3 to 5 years.
